Practice Ice Information

Practice ice for the 2027 Midwestern Sectional Singles & U.S. Ice Dance Final is available for purchase and selection through U.S. Figure Skating's Event Management System (EMS).

Competitors and coaches should review the tentative competition and practice ice schedules before selecting sessions. All practice ice is subject to availability, and schedules may be adjusted as necessary.

Practice Ice Sales & Selection Timeline

All times are Eastern Time (ET).

  • Pre-Purchase Window (October 5–18): Competitors may purchase practice ice credits in advance.
  • Priority Session Selection (October 19 at 12:00 PM – October 21 at 11:59 PM): Competitors who pre-purchased credits may select their preferred practice ice sessions.
  • Open Sales (Beginning October 22 at 12:00 PM): All competitors may purchase and select available practice ice sessions through EMS.
  • Purchase Limits Removed (October 26 at 12:00 PM): Competitors may purchase additional available sessions without general purchase limits.

Unused pre-purchase credits may still be used during open sales, subject to availability and applicable purchase limits.

Practice Ice Purchase Limits

To ensure fair access for all competitors:

  • Through October 25: Practice ice is limited to two sessions per competitive segment, including designated Warm-Up sessions.
  • Beginning October 26 at 12:00 PM ET: General purchase limits will be removed, allowing competitors to purchase additional available sessions.

We strongly encourage all competitors to secure their initial practice ice sessions before October 26, when general purchase limits are removed.

Designated "Warm-Up" Sessions

Certain sessions are labeled "Warm-Up" in the practice ice schedule. These are not formal competition warm-ups; they are regular Unofficial Practice Ice (UPI) sessions purchased and selected through EMS.

Because capacity is limited for these sessions:

  • Each skater may select one designated Warm-Up session per competitive segment.
  • These sessions count toward the initial two-session-per-segment purchase limit.
  • The one-Warm-Up-session restriction remains in effect after October 26.
  • This restriction operates on the honor system. If a skater reserves more than one designated Warm-Up session for the same segment, the LOC reserves the right to remove additional reservations.

Practice Ice & Competition Schedule Conflicts

Some practice ice sessions may overlap with competitive events. Competitors may wish to wait until starting orders are published before selecting sessions that could conflict with their competition times.

Competitors may select these sessions in advance, with the understanding that the LOC reserves the right to adjust practice ice assignments once starting orders are available to resolve conflicts and ensure fair access.

Our goal is to provide all competitors with appropriate opportunities to practice. We will work with skaters to make reasonable adjustments as needed, so please don't feel pressured to finalize every scheduling detail immediately.
